“Innovation shaping performance excellence”

The Ombudsman for Banking Services in South Africa is delighted to be hosting INFO 2019 from 29 September to 2 October 2019 at Bakubung Game Lodge, Pilanesberg, South Africa.

INFO 2019 will be the 12th annual conference of the International Network of Financial Services Ombudsman Schemes (INFO Network).

The annual INFO Network Conference provides a very valuable opportunity to share knowledge, information and experience. Building on the excellent work done by previous hosts and the feedback from previous participants, and the guidance of the INFO Committee members, we have put together a programme that will provide valuable insights in relation to resolving disputes. The Conference will do this by receiving inputs from a broad range of guest speakers, INFO Members and Conference delegates.

The Conference programme has been designed to provide for maximum participation from delegates and ample opportunity to spend time with other Ombudsman to leverage of the knowledge of the longstanding experienced members, but also the newer additions to the Network, who undoubtedly add a fresh new perspective to those questions that we all have in common.

If you are dedicated to keeping ahead of the challenges an Ombudsman scheme face, then join us on INFO 2019 as we will be addressing the major trends that are driving the future whilst reminding ourselves about the six fundamental principles to which INFO Network members should aspire.

With our conference theme “Innovation shaping performance excellence” we aim to focus our attentions on what the future holds for Ombudsman schemes and how we need to be innovative, as well as how to apply accepted principles to ensure performance excellence. With top expert guidance from the likes of Fintech, amongst others, we will address issues about how to prepare ourselves for the changing digital financial landscape and about practical implementation of the accepted norms and principles that govern Ombudsman schemes around the world.

In today’s fast pace and fast -changing financial industry, the exchange of information is imperative to keep us abreast and relevant.

Important information to note: INFO 2019 will differ from previous conferences in that the conference venue (Bakubung Game Lodge) is not in the city center but approximately 2/3 hour drive out of town. Transport will be arranged for delegates and we will travel to the venue immediately after Sunday lunch. Pick-up and drop off at The Sandton Sun Hotel, in the heart of Sandton will happen on Sunday morning, so it is very important to keep this in mind when making travel bookings. We have negotiated special rates for overnight stay in any one of three Sandton hotels. Delegates may of course wish to extend their stay even longer before or after the conference, and our conference organisers would do their best to assist with queries in this regard.

We hope the delegates will enjoy the Mzansi (South African) hospitality and dynamic cultural scene that our country offers, and we aim to facilitate a conference they will remember.

INFO Network is the worldwide association for financial services ombudsmen — independent and impartial out-of-court schemes and offices that resolve complaints brought by consumers (and, in some cases, small businesses) against banks, insurers, and other financial services providers.

Formalised in 2007, INFO Network facilitates co-operation among its members to build expertise in external dispute resolution.

At February 2019, INFO Network has 57 members from 38 countries across four regions (Eurasia, Africa, Asia-Pacific, Americas). While many of our members are called Ombudsman, some are not. Other common terms are Mediator, Adjudicator and Ombud.
